Collagen P.I.N
Automated Micro-Needling (also known as Percutaneous Collagen Induction Therapy or PCIT) treats fine lines, acne scars and improves of the skin’s overall appearance. During this procedure, tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to produce collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in a thicker dermis with the appearance of softer wrinkles. Automated micro-needling also creates superficial micro-channels which allow topical serums and creams to be absorbed more effectively into the skin. The Science behind the treatment.
Microneedling stimulates growth of collagen and elastin by creating tiny holes in the skin. These tiny holes work to ‘wake-up’ the cells in the surrounding area to make the skin look younger, more elastic, and full. They also allow select compounds to travel deeper within the skin in order to magnify their effects.
What to Expect at your appointment
Before you arrive
Please be sure to gently cleanse the area being treated and remove all makeup in the area prior to your procedure time.
Because microneedling is an uncomfortable treatment, we will apply a topical numbing agent to your face and let you sit for 20-30 minutes to allow the medication to work and make the appointment comfortable for you. Then your topical numbing will be wiped off and your face cleansed. A topical hyaluranic acid glide will be used on your face during the procedure.
After Treatment
After the procedure, the treated area will be pink to red, almost like you’ve gotten sunburn. You may experience some swelling and bruising in the days afterwards, which can be treated with ice. You will be given in-depth aftercare instructions, which you should refer to after your treatment.
Post Procedure Care
Ice packs can be applied to ease swelling and bruising. There will also be an aftercare kit of creams and ointments that can be purchased to maximize results. We will give you in-depth aftercare instructions at your appointment and are available to answer any questions as needed.
